The Woodworking Project has new guidelines for Summer 2024 that place parameters on what types of tools are allowed at each level. This information may be important as you are choosing your level in ZSuite. Watch for your local show guide to be released or talk to your local office if you have any questions! |

What is a Horse Bowl? How to get involved in your regional contest!

Learn more about local contests through your county and stay tuned for the spring state contests!
In Horse Bowl, you will demonstrate your knowledge of equine related subject matter in a competitive setting where attitudes of friendliness and fairness prevail. The contest operates very similar to scholastic bowls at school except all the questions relate to horses! Participants do not need to have horses or be enrolled in the horse project to participate. The primary objective of the Hippology Contest is to provide an opportunity for youth enrolled in 4-H to demonstrate the breadth of their knowledge and understanding of equine science, and in particular the practical application of this knowledge and skill. The Youth Leadership Team is looking for New Members! The State Youth Leadership Team plans and implements the state Jr. Leadership Conference, plans and teaches the Speaking for Illinois 4-H program, and assists (behind the scenes and in front of the audience) for many other statewide events. Team members have the opportunity to serve on statewide planning committees and advisory groups, including the Illinois 4-H Alumni Board, Illinois Farm Bureau Youth Education Committee. Members of this team serve as ambassadors of the Illinois 4-H program, giving back to the program while further enhancing their leadership skills. You must be age 16 to 19 to apply to serve a two year term. The deadline to apply is December 31. |

Apply to attend the Ignite by 4-H conference in Washington, DC Illinois 4-H is seeking fifteen youth delegates to the attend Ignite by 4-H Youth Summit in Washington D.C. March 13-17, 2024! If you are selected to participate in our delegation, all travel and summit expenses will be covered with support from the IL 4-H Foundation. For general details regarding the Summit, please visit the National 4-H event page. To apply, log into ZSuite, choose a track to attend as a delegate - Healthy Living, Agriscience, or STEM, and then answer a few short questions to tell us more about yourself. |

4-H Shooting Sports Volunteer Certification Trainings in 2024 Mark your calendars for our Shooting Sports Leader training sessions! Learn more about the program here. You don't have to be an expert marksperson to be an expert leader! - Saturday, February 24 at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles
- Disciplines offered: Rifle; Pistol; Archery; Coordinator
- Saturday, May 11 at 4-H Memorial Camp in Monticello
- Disciplines offered: Shotgun, Rifle; Pistol; Archery;Coordinator; Hunting/Outdoor Skills
If interested in registering, contact your local University of Illinois Extension office to get signed up. These dates are 9-hour βfield daysβ which teach range management. An additional 3 hour online 4-H training will complete the certification process. Registration will be open Dec. 11, 2023 β Feb. 16, 2024. Questions? 4-H Alumni News: Nominate a 4-H Alum today! The Illinois 4-H Alumni Association Alumni awards program is now open. The Illinois 4-H Alumni Awards program aims to recognize alumni for their individual achievements, contributions to their industry or profession, service to the community, and loyalty to the Illinois 4-H program. Recipients will be recognized at the Illinois State Fair between August 9-11, 2024. Nomination Deadline is March 15, 2024. The Illinois 4-H Alumni Association is seeking nominations for the following 4-H alumni awards: Illinois 4-H Alumni Award Established in 1981 The highest honor is bestowed upon a 4-H alumnus by the Illinois 4-H Association and Illinois 4-H program on behalf of the University of Illinois. This award recognizes an elite group of Illinois 4-H alumni for their outstanding career accomplishments and leadership in civic, community, and professional activities. Illinois 4-H Young Alumni Award New in 2023 The Young Alumni award is bestowed upon alumni by the Illinois 4-H Alumni Association and Illinois 4-H program on behalf of the University of Illinois. This award recognizes young alumni that have demonstrated significant accomplishments and are emerging leaders in their professional or civic contributions to their community. They have proven to be ambassadors for the Illinois 4-H program and the 4-H young alumni community. Illinois 4-H Family Spirit Award Established in 2002 The Illinois 4-H Family Spirit award recognizes an Illinois 4-H family who has substantially benefited from and continues to advocate for the Illinois 4-H program over at least three generations |
