What is the Privacy Office? The Privacy Office is a unit within Technology Services whose focus is on the ethics of handling sensitive data that goes beyond cybersecurity controls.
How can a Privacy Review help your project? By aligning your project with privacy principles of:
- Transparency: clarify what you will do to help build trust
- Individual Participation: get and manage consent to collect PII directly from individuals
- Purpose Specification: define your objective to justify the data collection
- Data Minimization: only collect what you need to limit risk
- Use Limitation: define your data usage to comply with the law
- Data Quality and Integrity: confirm accuracy to maximize usefulness
- Security: know your data classification to meet the security standards
- Accountability and Auditing: perform periodic reviews to ensure legal and ethical use of PII
