Sophomores and above have additional residence halls and meal plan options to choose from, plus great amenities available. The services and amenities we provide save you from having to shop, cook and clean, allowing you more time with friends you can make through our built-in communities and social events, or more time for studying in our study lounges, learning commons and computer labs.

Meal Plans
Meal plans can be used at any of our nine dining locations. If you live in the Graduate Upper-Division Halls or in University Apartments, you are not required to purchase a meal plan, but many opt in because of the flexibility, quality and convenience. Apartment residents, students living in GUD halls, as well as Taft and Van Doren halls have additional meal plan options.

Housing Sign-Up Calendar and Access Times
Housing Sign-Up begins October 3 and runs through April 15 in five different phases, beginning with the option to choose the same room for next year. Review your options and the associated phases in order to be ready to apply!

Living the Illini life means...
With six different meal plans and 26 residence halls, we’ve got options that meet your needs and your budget. You’ll pay just one bill per semester and have no additional laundry, utility or grocery costs – or a steep security deposit and application fee. We also have flexible living terms, with our 9-month academic year contract, and we’ll release you from your housing contract for the Spring Semester if you study abroad.

University Housing Apartments
Returning residents are also eligible to apply for a 12-month lease at Ashton Woods Apartments, which features furnished and unfurnished two-bedroom apartments. Ashton Woods is a pet-friendly complex and home to a mix of graduate students and upper-division undergraduate students.
