Join us for an inspiring day of empowerment and growth at the Youth Leadership Conference: Leading Through Adversity- Celebrating Resiliency on Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 9:00 am- to 2:00 pm at District 1 Police Station, 1045 W. State Street, Rockford, IL.  We will celebrate resilience and the power of the next generation to overcome challenges and lead with strength.  

This conference is open to all youth ages 11-18 in the surrounding area.  Participants will learn and engage with a variety of local adult and youth leaders in Winnebago County including Andrew Wright, who is the announcer for the Rockford Rage Roller Derby & Ipsen USA Marketing Content Specialist.  Juan Nogueda, Student Trustee at Rock Valley College and Jazmin Nathan, SGA President at Rock Valley College will present their personal journeys to leadership, offering unique perspectives and lessons. 

Rockford’s youngest elected representative, Tamir Bell, a rising young leader, serves as the Political Director for State Representative Maurice West. Committed to community service and fostering opportunities for all residents, Bell embodies the spirit of leadership through action.  Bell will serve as the host for the day in addition to speaking.

Lunch will be provided from Mission BBQ including pulled pork, pulled chicken, sliders & cornbread, macaroni and cheese, green beans with bacon.  There will also be a cookie and brownie tray, complimentary from Mission BBQ for dessert.

This event is open to ANY teens ages 11-18 years of age.  There is no fee to participate.  The Tom Schingoethe Memorial funds this conference.  Tom was the County Director in Winnebago County and later became the Associate Regional Director for the Northwest Region.  One of Tom's favorite aspects of his position was spending time with local youth and their families.
