The WRC provides educational workshops at no cost to registered student organizations, residence halls, sororities/fraternities, campus units, academic departments, and community organizations. If your group or organization is interested in hosting a program, we can tailor one to your needs.

Workshop Descriptions

ICARE Bystander Intervention

An engaging, interactive workshop that prepares students to feel confident in their abilities to intervene when they witness instances of sexual violence.

Facilitators: Peer Educators or Professional Staff
Duration: 90 minutes

STRIVE: Supporting Survivors

A comprehensive presentation that provides basic techniques for anyone who may encounter survivors of sexual assault. Supporting survivors can seem daunting but we utilize the acronym STRIVE as an easy way to help attendees remember the best ways to support.

Duration: 60 minutes

Sexual Violence Prevention for Graduate Students

As leaders in our community, graduate students occupy a unique position when it comes to preventing sexual violence on campus. In this workshop, we will explore graduate students’ responsibilities related to responding to sexual violence, as well as their rights and the resources available to support them.

Stalking: Recognizing the Warning Signs

This introductory workshop is adapted from a national curriculum for the UIUC community and is intended to provide a basic overview of stalking, focusing on exploring stalking behaviors, examining the contextual nature of this form of violence, and providing strategies for participants to get involved in building awareness and supporting survivors.

Cute or Creepy: Media's Normalization of Stalking Behaviors

This interactive workshop is designed to explore the messages we've received about stalking behaviors from popula movies and TV shows and examine how these behaviors have contributed to the normalization of stalking behaviors in our culture. Building our critical media literacy skills will help us challenge harmful narratives and promote violence prevention within our communities.

Duration: 60 minutes
