Youth spend hours each day snapping photos of themselves and friends on their phones so why not give your child the knowledge of how to plan for a great photograph. Sign them up today for the University of Illinois Extension Photography SPIN Club. The three session club runs October 16, 23 and November 6 from 3-5 p.m. at the Whiteside Extension Office in Sterling.

The SPIN club will train youth in basic camera settings, selecting a subject, composition, lighting, printing and managing photos. The club fee is $10.00 and youth ages 11-13 may attend. Camera will be provided.

Pre-registration is required - please register by 10/13 by using the registration link or calling 815-632-3611.

For a fun and safe experience, we will be following health and safety guidelines including face masks, hand washing, and social distancing.

Session 1-Oct 16
The Camera
Learn basic camera settings
Be able to label the basic parts of a camera
Understand the different types of cameras used in everyday photography
Know criteria for selecting a camera

Selecting a subject
Make a plan before they take a photograph.
Ask themselves what they are wanting to“say” with their image.
Learn to tell a story or “sell” an idea with their image(s).
