Page Module

The page module enables a teacher to create a web page resource using the text editor. A page can display text, images, sound, video, web links and embedded code, such as Google maps.

The advantages of using the page module rather than the file module include the resource being more accessible (for example to users of mobile devices) and easier to update.

Note: For large amounts of content, it’s recommended that a book is used rather than a page.

A page may be used

  • To present the terms and conditions of a course or a summary of the course syllabus.
  • To embed several videos or sound files together with some explanatory text.
  1. To add a page to your course, begin by clicking the “Turn editing on” button in the upper right of the page in the course you want to add the page to.
  2. Turn Editing On button

  3. Next, click the “Add an activity or resource” in the section in which you would like to add the page.
  4. Add activity or resource image

  5. Scroll down to the Resources section and click “Page” and then click “Add.”
  6. Add screen with blue arrows pointing at Page and Add

  7. This will take you to the “Adding a new page” screen. Under the “General” section, you are required to name the page. You can also add an optional description and have that description display on the course page.
  8. In the “Content” section, you are required to add content in the “Page content” area. Here you can add text, images, video, or even embed Illinois Media Space videos.
  9. In the “Appearance” section, the “Display page name option” is pre-selected. If you deselect this option, the name of the module will appear on the course page but will not appear in the module itself. Ignore the “Display page description option,” as it is disabled.
  10. Page Appearance section with display page name selected and display page description not selected

  11. In the “Common module settings” section, choose whether to show or hide the module. Ignore the “Restrict access” section unless specific access restrictions are desired.
  12. Click “Save and display” at the bottom of the page once finished.
